SPRING GENERAL MEETING

Thanks to everyone who showed up today for the Spring Meeting.  We had aproximately 81 members in attendance.  Looking forward to a great season!

BATTING CLINIC UPDATE

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED-EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

Due to an overwhelming response to the clinic, we must close registration but are starting a WAIT LIST.   If you are registered and cannot attend please notify us by email ASAP so we can add someone from the time stamped wait list.  

Thanks to everyone for responding so quickly to the survey regarding the batting clinic.  As of this post all 221 registered members/players of WECSSO have received the survey or been contacted in person if no email existed.

To date 66 members have signed up to attend the batting clinic.  The breakdown is as follows:  Red – 20 players          Blue – 23 players          Green – 23 players

The batting instructors and pitchers for the clinic are our WECSSO players.  The general idea is to have different batting stations and batting practice.  This allows our pitchers to get some pre-season warmup as well.  

Bats and balls will be provided but feel free to bring your own bat if you choose.  Bring your glove to assist with fielding balls.

We are encouraging members to bring their cell phones for personal batting videos.  Error detection, tips and corrections will improve batting success.  

WECSSO is covering the cost of the clinic.

Goodfellows Paper Drive 2023

It’s that time of year again to start planning for the annual Goodfellows Paper Drive. WECSSO and their friends always takes part under the direction of Ken Dafoe. This year, the Goodfellows are back on the streets selling papers along with a few locations like Tim Hortons. Ken is the chairman of Team #7 with his headquarters at the Lumberjack Restaurant at Howard and Tecumseh. The volunteers work that corner. Note the dates below and if you are able to help out, please contact Ken. Volunteers usually participate for 2-hour time slots.

 ** Each day is from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon

BINGO FUNDRAISING

25th Day of Remembrance

We are having our 25th Memorial Day of Remembrance this coming Saturday, August 26th in Dieppe Park at the foot of Ouellette Avenue and Riverside Drive, at 10:00am (rain or shine).. We will be remembering 9 Ball Players in a memorial service and a dedication of their life by placing a stone (brick) in their honour.  Our Past President, Bob Parent chairs this event and over the past 27 years we have honoured over 100 members that have been part of our organization.  This is a beautiful ceremony and I would encourage you to attend, if possible, to support the families of your fellow slo-pitch players. 
 
 

WECSSO 2nd Annual Golf Outing

Join us on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Orchard View Golf Course (1357 County Road 34, Ruthven, Ontario) for the 2nd Annual WECSSO Golf Tournament.

4-person scramble: SHOTGUN START AT 9:30 a.m.
